2018 – Favorite Scary Movies

As you all probably know by now…I am obsessed with Halloween and horror movies. If you are looking for some scary movies to fill your Halloween week nights, keep reading! I’ve seen a few new ones this year that are SO good. For more scary movie options check out my “What’s Your Favorite Scary Movie?”  blog from last year!

1. The Ritual

Netflix really delivered their best this year, first on the list of favorites is The Ritual. It had been a while since a movie made me that uneasy – imagine The Blair witch Project but 10 times better. You’ll definitely be hiding behind a blanket for this one.

2. Hereditary

This one will come as no surprise – EVERYONE is talking about how unsettling this movie is. The hype around this film is no joke. Don’t let the slow start to the storyline fool you, you are in for a very uncomfortable experience with this one. I wouldn’t watch this one alone πŸ™‚ You’ve been warned!

3. It Follows

After watching the trailer for this one I couldn’t tell if I was really into it and almost didn’t watch it. But once I saw that it got a 97% on Rotten Tomatoes I decided to give it a shot. Not sure how I didn’t watch it over the 3 years it’s been out but it’s a good one! It has an unfair and messed up storyline that will give you some cruel ideas on how to discourage your children (or in my case, future children) from having sex πŸ˜‰

4. The Haunting of Hill House

Last, but definitely not least, you have to watch The Haunting of Hill House. I thought American Horror Story could never be outdone in the scary show category…but I think it’s met it’s match. I LOVED this show. Though, I must say I wasn’t a huge fan of the ending, it’s 100% worth watching. Every episode is almost the length of one movie, so if you are looking for a new Netflix show to binge this Halloween week and the idea of being creeped out for hours sounds appealing to you then this is the one. Close the blinds, get yo popcorn, a blanket and press play.

If you are looking for some classics you can’t go wrong with the following:

  • Amityville Horror
  • When a Stranger Calls
  • The Last Exorcism
  • Dead Silence

Hope you enjoy! Happy Halloween Week!

Byyyyyeeeee.

Love “It Follows”, especially a re-watch — you can see “it” coming way earlier in some scenes. Saw “Overlord” in theater recently, it was a hoot; a lot better than expected, great production values. Not quite “horror”, but on the scary front, “A Quiet Place” probably takes the cake on my list for 2018.
