I have always loved every aspect of weddings; the love, bringing two families together, the celebration, the beauty, the cake (nom nom). And when I finally got invited to a wedding as a guest and not a wedding planner assistant I was BEYOND excited. I started shopping three months in advanced for my dress and I found the perfect fit. However, it took me a good amount of time to find it because it was hard to decide what would be appropriate. A lot of the dresses I came across were too expensive, the wrong material, a little too saucy or really cute but way too short (womp womp).
This Missguided dress was a major success! Great quality, perfect fit, amazing color and only $70! Unfortunately it is no longer in stock so I decided to go on a hunt to see if I could find the same style with another brand because its a bummer knowing this dress was perfect for me but I can’t share it with all of you! I came across a few similar styles and a couple options that are close to the same grey and lavender color.
TIPS ON HOW TO SHOP FOR A WEDDING:
1. Pay attention to the length: No one wants to be the guest who can’t walk more than 5 steps without readjusting their dress, it isn’t cute and it’s definitely NOT comfortable for you! Find a dress that you won’t be tugging at, you will want to enjoy the evening without worrying about how your dress is shifting.
2. Get good quality material: If you buy a cheaply made dress with poor quality material it is usually obvious and it doesn’t leave much room for imagination if you know what I mean. Don’t get stuck with a dress where you can’t bend over because everyone will know what is “hidden” under that dress.
3. Start shopping sooner rather than later: I’m always the one to procrastinate but if you really want to find the right look don’t put it off. Last minute shopping is stressful and usually unsuccessful.
4. Shop ONLINE: I rarely find an event dress in stores. My method is to order a couple different options online, try them on, and then return what I don’t want. There are plenty of great online companies that have more options then you will find in a store (Lulus, Asos, Missguided, Tobi, Revolve, Reformation).
5. Don’t settle: The good quality deals are out there, you just have to find them!
I hope this helps you find the perfect dress for your next wedding or event! To see the styles similar to mine scroll down to the bottom of the post!
