What’s Your Favorite Scary Movie?

If you know me well then you are aware of my Halloween and scary movie obsession (probably better described as an addiction – I have no shame). And considering it’s Halloween I figured this would be the perfect opportunity to cuddle up in my favorite (boo) blanket that has ghosts all over it to bring to you my top 10 favorite scary movies. But if you are just jumping on the party train via Victoria (me) then I should warn you…I can’t get enough of this kind of stuff and this post contains some creepy movie trailers! The fact that majority of people aren’t as into horror movies as I am this might not be a post that interests you…but considering it’s Halloween and being scared once a year can be fun, I encourage you to read on.

Let’s jump in! There’s a good mix of gory, demonic and classic – something for everyone!

1. The Strangers

The Strangers has always been one of my favorite scary movies. Getting killed “because you were home”… enough said.

2. The Babadook

I watched The Babadook for the first time this year. When Steve introduced it to me I wasn’t sure if it’d be that good because I had never heard…and being the horror movie know it all I figured it wasn’t going to be good lol. But let me tell you, this movie exceeded my expectations. And it’ll probably be a while before I watch it again because it scared me so much! It is a must watch!

3. The Visit

In my opinion, this movie was definitely underrated. It has an intense twist at the end that you’d never see coming and you’ll find yourself anxiously laughing throughout.

4. The Nightmare on Elm Street

You can’t go wrong with a classic and if you’ve never seen the first Nightmare of Elm Street, you have missed out! I started watching these movies when I was about 8 years old (not recommended) so you could say Freddy has been in my nightmares for years lol. Plus, who doesn’t want to watch a movie with Johnny Depp?

5. Sinister

This movie is really well done. The story keeps you on your toes and has some really eerie footage. You won’t be disappointed if you choose this one as your Halloween night movie.

6. The Conjuring

The Conjuring is one of the scarier movies to come out in the past couple of years. However, if you don’t like demonic possession films this won’t be the scary movie for you. It gets to be pretty intense towards the end but it definitely sets itself up really well for some really scary spin off films. Which brings me to my next favorite!

7. Annabelle

Demonic possession + the creepiest doll EVER = Scary AF.

8. Lights Out

Lights Out is a clever movie that makes you even more scared of the dark than you already are. Maybe those shadows we see in the dark are real…

9. The Witch

If you are looking for a movie that messes with your head…this is the one. Definitely wouldn’t recommend to anyone who is just looking for a spooky and fun scary movie night. You have been warned!

10.  IT

In honor of the newly released IT remake I thought I’d give the original a shout out. You can’t go wrong with this classic horror movie but brace yourself, it’s a long one. And obviously, I’d recommend seeing the remake as well – SO GOOD!

And there you have it, my top 10 scary movies to date! Make yourself some popcorn, grab a blanket, call a friend and turn on your horror movie pick! You can’t go wrong with any of these.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Byyyeeeeeee.
